Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Carne Bookkeeping ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Information we collect
Through our website enquiry form we collect only what we need to respond to you: your name, email address, and your message. Providing a phone number and business name is optional.
If you go on to become a client, we may collect further information required to provide bookkeeping, BAS and payroll services — for example business and ABN details, bank transaction data, payroll and superannuation information, and records needed to meet Australian Taxation Office and Fair Work obligations.
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and discuss how we may be able to help.
- To provide bookkeeping, BAS, payroll and related services you engage us for.
- To meet our legal, record-keeping and professional obligations.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use enquiry details for marketing lists or newsletters.
Disclosure
We may share information where necessary with your accountant or tax agent at your direction, with government agencies such as the Australian Taxation Office as part of lodgements we make on your behalf, and with the secure software providers we use to deliver our services (for example Xero and our website and email hosting providers). We may also disclose information where required by law.
Storage and security
Enquiries submitted through this website are transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored securely, accessible only to Carne Bookkeeping. Client records are held in reputable cloud accounting and file storage systems protected by access controls and multi-factor authentication. Some providers may store data outside Australia.
Please do not include sensitive financial information — such as bank account numbers, tax file numbers or passwords — in the website enquiry form.
Retention
We keep enquiry records only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable business records. Client records are retained for the periods required by Australian tax and employment law, then securely destroyed or de-identified.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking. Only the technical essentials required for the site to function are used.
Access and correction
You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete information we are not legally required to keep. Contact us using the details below and we will respond promptly.
Complaints and contact
If you have a privacy question or concern, contact us at hello@carnebookkeeping.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
